The Berwick Neighbourhood Centre Inc (BNC) is governed by a Committee of Governance, elected at the AGM, with members drawn from the general community, Centre users and interested persons who wish to have an input into the policy and direction of the Centre. It is the responsibility of the Committee of Governance, in all of their interactions and decision-making, to guide, demonstrate and articulate the values and ethics that are required of all persons associated with the centre. BNC members, staff, volunteers and visitors are expected to work co-operatively with all people involved in the BNC to promote an environment where each person feels comfortable and welcome, and is treated with dignity and respect. Our primary funding is through the Department of Victorian Communities, Department of Human Services and the City of Casey, with the balance of our operating costs being met be fees and fundraising. Our fee structure is budgeted to keep the activities offered to a minimal costs whiles maintaining the financial viability of the Centre, and we are proud to be able to offer quality, affordable services within Berwick and surrounding areas. We are sometimes able to offer concessions to people who could not otherwise attend our centre. Fundraising is on-going and vital to the Centre and monies raised is used to update and replenish equipment, especially in the children's rooms and playgrounds and the office equipment. Various fundraising activities are offered thought the year. VISION AND MISSION STATEMENTS The Berwick Neighbourhood Centre Inc aims to provide a Community Centre, which through the provision of family, recreational and educational programs, encourages personal growth, peer support and friendships between all members regardless of their status within the community. The Berwick Neighbourhood Centre Inc will respond to community needs provide quality low cost childcare sessions develop and implement creative community based adult learning programs provide information and referral services as required provide opportunities for people to form friendships and mutual support groups. CHILDREN'S SERVICES MISSION STATEMENT The Berwick Neighbourhood Centre Inc aims to provide the children attending Occasional Care (Pre Kinder) sessions the opportunity to have fun and gain independence and self assurance through socialization within their peer group in a safe, caring and creative environment. The Berwick Neighbourhood Centre Inc provides venues, equipment, resources and advice to enable parents/carers to run effective playgroups. Our definition of an effective playgroup is one where: - all families feel welcome and accepted. Friendship and support is encouraged.
